Surprise, October (22 Days to go)

Despite the shenanigans of Kim Jong-Il, the tiny terror of the Asian Peninsular, last week's bond market was confronted with several choices, based on, for now, dubious information.

Some Mondays begin with a dearth of story lines for the markets to interpret and digest. This one is more akin to poker, aces and deuces, wild.

Is the likelihood growing that Democrats will regain control of Congress? Will events escalate in North Korea faster than they will in Iran? Has things spun completely out of control in Iraq and Afghanistan? Is the economy headed for a soft landing?

Have we been reminded through the Hawaiian 6.6 magnitude earthquake that nature possesses the ultimate WMD? Will the DJIA and S&P 500 continue higher? And, will the price of oil and gas continue falling?

Have I forgotten anything?
